Apple Seeds Third Beta of watchOS 10.3 to Developers

Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming watchOS 10.3 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming a week after the release of the second watchOS 10.3 beta.

Apple Watch Faces watchOS 10 Feature Blue
To install the ‌watchOS 10.3‌ update, developers will need to open the Apple Watch app, go to the Software Update section under "General" in Settings, and toggle on the watchOS 10 Developer Beta. An Apple ID linked to a developer account is required.

Once beta updates have been activated, watchOS 10.3 can be downloaded under the same Software Update section. To install software, an Apple Watch needs to have 50 percent battery life and it must be placed on an Apple Watch charger.

There's no word yet on the new features that might be included in watchOS 10.3, and no notable new features were found in the first betas.

Does anyone know if this update will fix the "raise to speak" issue? It worked perfectly before the last major "10" update.

I created this thread many months ago, and as you can see, there are quite a few people who are having the same issue:

I just want to be able to raise my wrist up to my mouth and say "Set time for 6 minutes" when I'm cooking on the stove. It barely functions 50% of the time.

Also, does anyone know if Apple Devs browse this website or the forums? If you look at the thread that I hyperlinked, you'll clearly see many other people have the same exact issue.

WatchOS 10 completely changed the way I use my Watch and not for the better.

Used to use raise to speak all the time, barely works now.

Used to use the Dock. That's gone.

Used to swipe between a couple faces I had all set up. Technically it's back but it's worse and I got used to just not swiping at all.

Keep accidentally activating emergency call when trying to turn Sleep mode off, because you have to long press to unlock it and then tap the side button, where it used to be a swipe up so now my brain confuses the two actions.

The changes to the Watch are a great example of what's happened to all of Apple lately. Apple used to be famous for having highly thought out yet simple designs. They are neither well thought out nor simple anymore.

Edit: actually I gotta say I just tested it again and now it is working reliably. This is not even on the beta, it’s on the current public release.

Another later edit: yeah I wouldn’t call it working reliably. It works more than it did in 10.0 but far less than it did in 9. It almost never failed in 9, still only working about 1/3 of the time now.

I stand by my other statements. There have been some improvements. It’s not all bad. But I really think their design has become negatively affected by their focus on Vision Pro the last few years.

?
I have the same issue…

Yes.

It is just hit and miss. Actually a lot more miss than hit.
I had to toggle "Wake to Wrist Raise" a couple of times before it started working.

YMMV

Battery issues solved? Doubting it. But still a bit hopeful.
